Geoimage announces new General Manager

The Geoimage Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Covington to the new role of General Manager.

Mark comes to the General Manager position with over 30 years of geospatial experience in both hardware and software solutions, having started his career as a Geophysicist in mining and exploration and progressing into software development.

Mark brings with him a wealth of experience in strategy development, team building, and delivering innovative solutions to the market. Some of the notable products Mark has led from design to production include an award-winning rail monitoring software used to assess the condition of Sydney’s metropolitan rail network, enterprise asset inspection software for the utilities sector, and a smart GIS application leveraging AI for the minerals exploration sector.

Mark noted, “As with so many other areas of society, the Earth Observation sector is experiencing rapid change due to technological advancement, and this will bring greater opportunities for our customers.”

Mark prefers to be at the forefront of technology, always looking ahead and eager to investigate the potential applications of new technology to industry and government.

“Geoimage is primed to realise those opportunities for our customers through our growing partner network, expanding in-house expertise, and commitment to service excellence. The Board of Directors, management team, and I are all laser-focused on the future,” Mark said in response to the announcement.

In announcing the appointment, Managing Director of Geoimage, Tony Evans said, “Geoimage’s Board of Directors has been deliberating the appointment of a General Manager for some time, and we are delighted to be able to finalise our plans and make it official with the appointment of Mark.”

As General Manager, Mark will be responsible for the daily operations of Geoimage and steering the company toward its strategic goals.

“Mark is well-suited for the position and has the knowledge, abilities, and experience to contribute to Geoimage’s ongoing success,” said Mr Evans.

Mark officially commenced his position as General Manager on Thursday, 1 December 2022.
