About the Kompsat-3A Satellite

KOMPSAT-3A captures high-resolution satellite imagery at 55 cm and includes infrared sensing at 5.5 m for advanced Earth observation applications.

Launched in March 2015, KOMPSAT-3A is a Korean multi-purpose satellite built for consistent, repeatable Earth observation. Its sun-synchronous orbit providing dependable coverage for monitoring environmental changes, land development, and mine site activity over time. The satellite is highly effective in applications such as satellite vegetation monitoring, land disturbance tracking, and change detection, making it a valuable tool for mineral exploration, pit progression, and compliance reporting. With agile imaging capabilities and multispectral support, KOMPSAT-3A enables precise mapping of inaccessible areas, rapid detection of surface anomalies, and accurate assessment of rehabilitation zones across active and legacy mining operations.
