About the KOMPSAT-3 Satellite
Launched in May 2012, KOMPSAT-3 is a Korean multi-purpose Earth observation satellite designed to capture detailed landscape topography and monitor vegetation and land use patterns. It delivers high-resolution panchromatic imagery at 70 cm and multispectral data at 2.8 metres (blue, green, red, NIR), supporting a wide range of environmental and geospatial applications. KOMPSAT-3 offers versatile capabilities for ongoing land surface monitoring, with proven effectiveness in tracking vegetation change, surface movement, and restoration across mining and environmental projects. Its frequent revisit potential makes it valuable for tracking vegetation regrowth, land disturbance, and rehabilitation progress across mine sites, as well as broader environmental management applications.
